
Alabama Men’s Tennis Summer Update: Week Three

The Crimson Tide continues summer competition across the world
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama men's tennis players are spread out all across the world playing in different tournaments this summer. Weekly updates of the results will be provided on RollTide.com.
Edson Ortiz & Sam Fischer | 2018 ITA Summer Circuit | Champaign, Ill.
Ortiz won the singles 2018 ITA Summer Circuit Tournament hosted by the University of Illinois as the No. 1 seed, while he and Sam Fischer also won the doubles tournament this past week. Ortiz' run started by defeating Alexander Cadigan (Kalamazoo College), 6-1, 6-0, in the first round, followed by besting Zack Ray (Kalamazoo), 6-3, 6-0, and Chandler Stimpert (Lewis University), 6-3, 6-2, to advance to the semifinals against Quinten Nevenhoven. Ortiz battled past Nevenhoven, 6-1, 4-6, 10-6, to advance to the finals where he won via a walkover against William Piekarsky (Indiana).
In doubles, Ortiz and Fischer began the tournament by moving past Fuchs/Ray, 8-2, and Schuetter/Tegtmeier, 8-2. In the semifinals, the duo continued to dominate after defeating Klapman/Totten, 8-2. The pair then won the tournament by pushing past Palley/Totten, 8-4.
Both Fischer and Ortiz will participate in this weekend's ITA Summer Circuit tournament hosted by Alabama.

Nesterov is back playing this summer at the Georgia F1 Tournament in Telavi, Georgia in the qualifying draw. The rising junior will open the event playing against Cengiz Asku (Turkey) which is set to begin on Monday, July 9.
Zhe Zhou | Tianjin, China | China F10 Futures | Shenzhen, China
Zhou will open the qualifying draw of the China F10 Futures event against Tsung-Hao Huang (Taiwan) which will begin on Saturday, July 7.
Thibault Cancel | Toulouse, France | Austria F2 |
Cancel opens the qualifying draw of the Austria F2 Tournament as the No. 2 seed. The rising junior will play against Laurin Aerne (Switzerland) beginning on Monday, July 9.
