Alabama Tennis Hosts Annual ITA Summer Circuit Tournament July 7-9

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Alabama tennis is set to host the ITA Summer Circuit Tournament July 7-9, welcoming over 100 tennis players to Tuscaloosa for the three-day weekend event.
A full 64-person singles and 32-team doubles draw is expected for both men's and women's competition. Matches will begin each morning at 9 a.m. CT at the Alabama Tennis Stadium and the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility.
The 2018 ITA Summer Circuit features 49 tournaments spread across the nation this summer. The circuit will run for six weekends, beginning in late June and continuing through the last weekend in July. Players that advance out of the qualifying tournaments will head to Fort Worth, Texas, to take part in the ITA Summer Nationals, held Aug. 10-14 at Texas Christian University (TCU).
Singles will play two out of three sets with a 10-point match tie break in lieu of a third set using no-ad scoring. Doubles will play a six-game set using no-ad scoring with a seven-point tie break held at six-all. Men's draws will use the Division I collegiate no-let rule. Draws will be made and posted on July 6 on the ITA website and on RollTide.com.
All events will provide first match loser consolation in all singles draws. All doubles draws are single elimination with no consolation matches
Practice courts are available each day on a first come, first serve basis.
The ITA office tracks points and post a "points race standings" each week on the ITA website. At the conclusion of the circuit, the top 5 men and the top 5 women will receive automatic entry into the ITA National Summer Championships as well as a $600 travel reimbursement to be used towards the expense of attending the ITA National Summer Championships at TCU. On the men's side rising junior Edson Ortiz currently sits at tied for third in the points race standings.
