
Alabama Women’s Tennis Reveals Action-Packed 2018-19 Schedule

The Crimson Tide’s dual match schedule consists of 13 2018 NCAA Tournament teams
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women's tennis head coach Jenny Mainz released the action-packed 2018-19 schedule on Wednesday, which consists of five fall tournaments and 30 dual matches in the spring.
"We're looking forward to our upcoming 2018-2019 season and all of the opportunities ahead," Mainz said. "We have a great fall and preseason in place to build toward our competitive spring schedule. We gained a lot of invaluable experience last year that will undoubtedly motivate this team."
The Tide opens the fall season by traveling to Houston to take part in the Rice Invitational from September 21-23. Following the ITA Riviera All-American Championships (Sept. 29-Oct. 7) and the ITA Southern Regional Championships hosted by Ole Miss (Oct. 12-14), Alabama will host the annual Roberta Alison Fall Classic from Oct. 26-28 in Tuscaloosa. This year's classic will feature high quality players from, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Indiana, Texas, USC (Southern Cal), Wisconsin, and Tulane among others.
UA will close out its fall season with the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Surprise, Ariz., on November 7-11.
The spring season will provide fans the chance to see the Tide in action numerous times with 18 of its 30 matches being played in Tuscaloosa. Alabama opens its dual match campaign with a doubleheader on Sunday, January 20 against UAB and Belmont, along with another doubleheader on Saturday, January 26 against Mercer and Alabama A&M.
Following the four home matches to open the season, the Crimson Tide will take to the road by traveling to Santa Barbara, Calif., to compete against UCSB, Gonzaga and Cal Poly on February 1-2. The Tide returns to action the following week with a five-match homestand when Georgia State (Feb. 8), UT Martin (Feb. 8), Lipscomb (Feb. 10), Kennesaw State (Feb. 10) and UCF (Feb. 15) come to Tuscaloosa.
After the annual Blue-Gray Tennis Classic, which features three matches (Feb. 22-24) in Montgomery, Ala., with Auburn, Fresno State, Illinois, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Wake Forest and Yale all in the tournament, the Tide will open Southeastern Conference play.
A season ago, 11 teams from the SEC earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament and the challenging conference slate begins on the road this season for the Tide against LSU (Mar. 1) and Texas A&M (Mar. 3). UA opens home SEC play against Kentucky (Mar. 8), and Vanderbilt (Mar. 10). Alabama will also have home SEC contests against Auburn (Mar. 22), Georgia (Mar. 29), Tennessee (Mar. 31), Arkansas (Apr. 12) and Missouri (Apr. 14). In addition, the Crimson Tide will travel to Ole Miss (Mar. 15), Mississippi State (Mar. 17), Florida (Apr. 5), and South Carolina (Apr. 7) during the SEC season.
The 2019 SEC Women's Tennis Championships will be held from April 17-21 in College Station, Texas. The NCAA Tournament Regionals begin May 3-5 with the newly implemented NCAA Super Regionals being played on either May 10 or May 11, and the NCAA Championships going from May 16-25 in Orlando, Fla.
Alabama returns seven of eight players from a year ago, including lone senior Andie Daniell. The Crimson Tide roster this year also features five juniors and two sophomores including last year's Conference USA Freshman of the Year in Moka Ito who transferred into the program from Western Kentucky.
