TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Four current and former Alabama track & field student-athletes will be in action this weekend, June 22-24, at the Trinidad & Tobago National Championships at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
Juniors Portious Warren and Mauricia Prieto, senior Ruebin Walters and former Crimson Tide All-American Jereem Richards will be in action during the three-day meet.
Warren will compete in the women's discus on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. CT and the shot put on Sunday at 3:15 p.m. CT. Prieto will run in the women's 200 meters Sunday at 1:45 p.m. CT. Walters will run in the men's 110-meter hurdles at Saturday at 3:15 p.m. CT and Richards will compete in the men's 200 meters Sunday at 2 p.m.
Warren and Walters earned All-America honors earlier this month at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships and are the UA record-holders in the women's shot put and men's 110-meter hurdles, respectively. Walters' season-best 13.31 at the Tom Jones Invitational in April is the fastest by a Trinidad & Tobago hurdler this year.
Prieto was a member of the Tide's indoor 4x400-meter relay that earned Second Team All-America status at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in March.
Richards, who is in his first year on the professional track circuit, finished his Alabama career in 2017 as the school record holder in indoor and outdoor 200 meters and was also a member of the Tide's record-holding indoor 4x400-meter relay. He was the 2017 SEC indoor 200 meters champion as well as a first-team All-American at that distance.
