Alabama’s Daija Lampkin and Tamara Clark Post Top-Four Finishes in 100 Meters at USA Track & Field Junior Outdoor Championships

Finishes earn the pair spots on the U.S. U-20 team for the world championships
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Alabama freshmen Daija Lampkin and Tamara Clark finished second and fourth, respectively, in the women's 100 meters on the opening day of the 2018 USA Track & Field Junior Outdoor Championships in Bloomington, Ind. Friday.
Lampkin's finish earns her a spot on the United States' Under-20 team that will compete in the IAAF U-20 World Championships next month in Tampere, Finland. Clark and Lampkin will also make the squad as members of the team's 4x100-meter relay.
In Friday's race, Lampkin crossed the finish line in 11.34 earn the runner-up spot behind winner Twanisha Terry of USC (11.24). Clark (11.364) was edged out for third place in a photo finish with Florida State's Jayla Kirkland (11.363).
Lampkin and Clark will be in action again on Saturday in first round of the 200 meters at 5:40 p.m. CT. The top eight finishers will advance to Sunday's final at 3:15 CT.
Alabama freshman Christian Edwards will also compete Saturday evening in the men's triple jump at 5:10 p.m. CT. Sunday's final day of competition at the junior championships will also include UA freshman Jaimie Robinson in the women's triple jump at 1:45 p.m. CT.
