Alabama Track & Field Sending Four Athletes to USA Junior Outdoor Championships this Weekend

Tamara Clark, Daija Lampkin, Jaimie Robinson and Christian Edwards competing for spots on U20 national team
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama freshmen sprinters Tamara Clark and Daija Lampkin and triple jumpers Jaimie Robinson and Christian Edwards will compete at the USA Track & Field Junior Outdoor Championships, June 15-17, in Bloomington, Ind.
In addition to competing for national championships in their events, the quartet will be looking to earn spots on the U.S. Under-20 team that will compete in the IAAF World U20 Championships, July 10-15, in Tampere, Finland.
Clark enters the meet as the No. 2 seed in the women's 100 meters. The High Point, N.C., native set the UA school record in the event at the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships in May. Clark will also compete in the 200 meters in Bloomington.
Lampkin will join Clark in both the 100 and 200 this weekend. She is coming off a debut season in Tuscaloosa that saw her record the second-fastest indoor 200-meter time in school history at the SEC Indoor Championships in February. The Middletown, Del., native also ran the lead leg on the Tide's 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams. She earned All-America honors in the 4x100 outdoors and the 4x400 indoors.
Prelims in the 100 meters will be held at 5 p.m. CT on Friday. The opening round of the 200 meters will take place at 5:40 p.m. CT on Saturday.
Robinson will compete in the women's triple jump and is looking to represent the United States on the international stage for the second year in a row. The Flossmoor, Ill., native was a silver medalist in the triple jump at the Pan American U20 Track & Field Championships in Peru last July. The women's triple jump final is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. CT on Sunday.
Edwards is entered in the men's triple jump on Saturday at 5:10 p.m. CT. The Lake Charles, La., native earned All-America honors in the event at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., last weekend and finished second in the event at the SEC Indoor Championships in February to earn all-conference honors. He finished sixth in the triple jump at the SEC outdoor meet in May.
