Series Sweep Boosts Alabama Softball to No. 13 in USA Today/NFCA Poll

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A series sweep last weekend helped boost Alabama softball in this week's national rankings, placing No. 13 in the USA Today/NFCA poll and No. 15 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll and NCAA RPI.
A series sweep at home last weekend over then-No. 9 Texas A&M allowed the Crimson Tide to jump five spots in the USA Today/NFCA poll to No. 13, its highest ranking since March 15. Alabama also moved up two spots in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll and one in the NCAA RPI rankings. The Tide heads into this week's SEC Tournament with a 32-17 overall record and 12-12 mark in conference play.
Twelve SEC teams are ranked in the top 25 or are receiving votes this week. Ranked teams include Florida (4/4), Tennessee (7/8), Georgia (8/9), LSU (11/11), South Carolina (12/14), Alabama (13/15), Texas A&M (14/13), Auburn (15/17), Arkansas (18/19), Kentucky (19/18) and Mississippi State (25/RV). Ole Miss is receiving votes outside the top 25 in the NFCA poll.
This week, Alabama opens play at the 2018 SEC Softball Tournament Wednesday, May 9 in Columbia, Mo., facing Auburn at 6:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
