TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama seniors Britainy Smith and Conner Thompson have been named to the 2018 SEC Community Service Team for track & field, the league office announced Wednesday.
Smith has been involved in UA community efforts at local hospitals and senior centers throughout her career at Alabama. Thompson recorded 3.86 undergraduate GPA in Mechanical Engineering and followed that up with a 4.00 graduate school GPA in Human Performance all while serving as a mentor to numerous members of the Tide distance and cross country units. On the track, the Murfreesboro, Tenn., native was one of four runners who contributed to a 31-point performance by the Crimson Tide in the 3,000 and 5,000 at the 2018 SEC Indoor Championships that helped lead UA to its first conference indoor title since 1972.
