Alabama Rowing Receives Top-20 Votes for First Time in Program History

The Crimson Tide receives five top-20 votes for the first time in program history, Wednesday.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – For the first time in program history, the Alabama rowing team received five top-20 votes in the US Rowing/CRCA Coaches Poll this week.
No. 3 Texas, Alabama and Oklahoma are the only Big 12 teams to either be ranked or receive votes.
Alabama started its spring season with two straight sweeps over Eastern Michigan and SMU before traveling to Kansas for the first of three-straight regattas away from home. At the Big 12 Double Dual, the Tide took home nine of ten possible victories against conference foes Kansas and Kansas State.
In the Crimson Tide's recent showing at the Longhorn Invitational, the 1V4+ crew highlighted the road trip to by finishing second in a heat that consisted of then No. No. 7 Iowa and No. 9 Virginia. The finish was good enough to advance to, and win, the B Finals where they beat out then No. 18 Oklahoma.
Alabama highlighted its fall campaign with a course-record, gold-medal finish in the Women's Club 4+ at the prestigious Head of the Charles in Cambridge, Mass.
Alabama will return to action in two weeks as it gears up for the Big 12 Conference Championships, May 12-13.
