Alabama Men’s Track & Field No. 4, Women No. 20 in Latest USTFCCCA National Rankings

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's track & field team will enter the NCAA Championships as the No. 4 team in the country while the Crimson Tide women will open competition ranked No. 20 in the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) pre-NCAA Championships rankings released Tuesday.
Alabama has qualified 14 individuals (nine men, five women) and both women's relays for the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, June 6-9, at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Alabama's nine men have combined for 14 entries at this year's NCAA meet. The Tide will compete in the 200 meters (Keitavious Walter), 5,000 meters (Alfred Chelanga, Gilbert Kigen and Vincent Kiprop), 10,000 meters (Chelanga, Kigen and Kiprop), 110-meter hurdles (Ruebin Walters), high jump (Shelby McEwen), triple jump (Christian Edwards), shot put (Kord Ferguson), hammer throw (Daniel Haugh) and discus (Ferguson and Haugh).
The 14 event entries is the second-most among all men's teams at this year's championships.
The Tide women qualified in the 100 meters (Tamara Clark), 200 meters (Clark), pole vault (Britainy Smith), triple jump (Tamara Moncrieffe and Jaimie Robinson), shot put (Portious Warren) and discus (Warren). The women's 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays will also run in Eugene.
