Ito joins the program after a one-year stint at Western Kentucky
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team and head coach Jenny Mainz picked up another great addition to the program on Thursday with the signing of sophomore transfer from Western Kentucky, Moka Ito.
"We're excited about Moka joining our Alabama Tennis Family," said coach Mainz. "She's a great fit for our team and will bring experience playing at the top of the lineup at WKU. Moka has an admirable passion for tennis and is eager to contribute to our Bama program. She's a great competitor who will push everyone around her to be better."
Ito cemented her name into WKU's record book by becoming the program's first Conference USA Freshman of the Year and the fifth Lady Topper to earn first team all-conference honors in singles. The Fukushima, Japan, native posted a 12-1 mark in singles play, which tied for sixth for the most wins in program history, while ending the season with an eight-match win streak. In doubles, Ito registered 10 victories, which tied for eighth in school history.
