
No. 10 Mazen Osama Defeats No. 51 Aswin Lizen to Advance to Round of 32

The junior bested Lizen 7-6 (4), 6-3 to earn his second-ever NCAA Singles Tournament win
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Junior Mazen Osama bested No. 51 Aswin Lizen, 7-6 (5), 6-3, in the first round of the NCAA Singles Tournament on Wednesday morning at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The Cairo, Egypt native, earned his second win in his second-career appearance in the tournament, as Osama advanced to the Round of 32 in 2016. Osama compiled his 10th win over a nationally-ranked opponent this year and with the victory, Osama improves to 16-7 in singles play on the season.
Osama will face either No. 65 Trevor Johnson of TCU or No. 31 Daniel Valent of Vanderbilt in the Round of 32 on Thursday, May 24. He and partner sophomore Edson Ortiz will also play in the first round of the Doubles Tournaments tomorrow against No. 25 Torpegaard/Joyce of Ohio State.
