Alabama Advances to the Semifinals at the SEC Women’s Golf Championships

Crimson Tide posts 3-2 win over Vanderbilt; will face Arkansas in Saturday afternoon semifinal
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The second-seeded Alabama Crimson Tide got wins from sophomore Kristen Gillman, junior Lauren Stephenson and freshman Angelica Moresco to defeat No. 7 seed Vanderbilt, 3-2, in the quarterfinals of the SEC Women's Golf Championships on Saturday morning.
Alabama will meet No. 3 seed Arkansas in the semifinals on Saturday afternoon at the par-72, 6,253-yard Greystone Golf and Country Club Legends Course in Birmingham, Ala. The Razorbacks defeated No. 6 seed Florida, 3-2, to advance.
Gillman put the Tide up 1-0 with a 6-4 win over the Commodores' Virginia Green. Stephenson followed with a 5-and-3 win over Courtney Zeng. Moresco clinched the match with a birdie on the 17th hole of her contest with Abbey Carlson to win 3-and-1.
Vanderbilt's wins were a 1-up decision by Louise Yu over the Tide's Cheyenne Knight and a 1-and-2 victory by Morgan Baxendale over Lakareber Abe.
Saturday's other semifinal pairings will be No. 1 South Carolina vs. No. 4 Georgia. The Gamecocks defeated No. 8 seed Missouri, 3-0-2, while the Bulldogs took down No. 5 Auburn, 3-2. Alabama and Arkansas will begin play the back nine while the Gamecocks and Bulldogs will tee off from No. 1. The round is expected to get underway at 1:30 p.m. CT.
