
Andie Daniell Featured on Latest Oracle/ITA Singles Rankings

Daniell earns highest singles ranking of the spring season at No. 86
TEMPE, Ariz. – Alabama women's tennis junior Andie Daniell jumped up 18 spots on the latest Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Singles Rankings released on Tuesday. Daniell came in at No. 86, her highest singles rank of the season, with a 6.30 average.
Last week, the Douglasville, Ga. native landed at No. 104 with a 5.38 average and ranked at No. 91 with a 5.97 average on April 3.
Daniell upset her third ranked opponent of the spring season on April 13, handling No. 85 Ryann Foster of LSU, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1. Her first win against a ranked opponent came on March 2 when she took down No. 117 Justina Mikulskyte of Kentucky, 7-6(3), 6-2, and she later topped No. 52 Ingrid Gamarra Martins of South Carolina in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, on March 24.
Daniell has been scorching hot at the No. 1 singles position with a team-high of 17 wins, while owning 14 doubles victories. In the final match of the regular season, Daniell set the tone for the upset over then-No. 32 Texas A&M, after downing Domenica Gonzalez, 7-6(2), 6-1.
During the fall slate, Daniell defeated then-No. 45 Lindsey Hodge from Rice University, 6-4, 6-1, while also reaching the semifinal round of the 2017 ITA Southern Regional Championships. Daniell ended the fall with a 9-2 record.
Daniell first appeared on the computerized Oracle/ITA rankings on Feb. 20 at No. 118 with a 4.93 average, and later slipped to No. 124 with a 5.07 average on March 6.
Daniell and the Crimson Tide will return to the court to face Tennessee in the first round of the 2018 SEC Tournament on April 18 at 1 p.m. CT.
