BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama women's tennis junior Andie Daniell was named to the 2018 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team on Tuesday, as announced by the league office. The annual award recognizes the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition.
Daniell has been a trailblazer for the Crimson Tide on-and-off the court as well as in the local community. As the women's tennis representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Daniell spearheads all student engagement activities and organizes student outreach initiatives that impact the community, including facilitating the annual Halloween Extravaganza. Outside of being a force on the court and in the classroom, Daniell volunteers at the Black Warrior PT Clinic, has built houses in Tuscaloosa with Habitat for Humanity, while also lending a helping hand at a local elementary school to teach kids about leadership, respect, goals and working well with others.
Daniell leads the team with 26 overall singles wins and owns a team-high seven victories in league play. The Douglasville, Ga., native has also defeated four ranked opponents on the year at the No. 1 position in singles.
Daniell and the Crimson Tide will hit the court tomorrow, April 18, in the first round of the 2018 SEC Tournament in Knoxville. No. 13 seed Alabama will face No. 12 seed Tennessee at 1 p.m. CT at Barksdale Stadium.
