
Alabama Men’s Tennis’ Mazen Osama and Edson Ortiz Move Up in Latest Oracle/ITA Singles and Doubles Rankings

Junior Mazen Osama is represented in the singles and doubles rankings
TEMPE, Ariz. – Junior Mazen Osama moved up to No. 26 in the latest computerized Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Men's Division I Singles Rankings on Tuesday, as announced by the association. Osama and his partner sophomore Edson Ortiz jumped 17 spots, coming in at No. 51.
Osama moved up 24 spots to achieve his highest ranking for the second-straight week after defeating his fifth nationally-ranked opponent this past Friday against Georgia's No. 19 Wayne Montgomery, 7-5, 6-3.
The No. 51 duo in the country in Osama and Ortiz went 1-0 over the weekend when the two took down Montgomery/Ponwith, 6-2, on Friday against No. 21 Georgia. The tandem has a 15-4 record at the No. 1 doubles spot so far this season.
Alabama also re-entered the team rankings at No. 45 after going 1-1 this past weekend. The Crimson Tide picked up its first win over a Top 25 weekend this past Friday, defeating No. 21 Georgia 4-2, before falling to No. 24 Tennessee 5-2 on Sunday.
Alabama men's tennis will close out its regular season slate on the road when the Tide travels to No. 10 Florida on Friday at 4 p.m. CT and then makes the trip to No. 27 South Carollina on Sunday at noon CT.
