Alabama Gymnasts Earn Regular Season All-America Honors

Nickie Guerrero and Kiana Winston both earned the regular-season accolade in 2018, marking the second year for Guerrero and the third for Winston
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A pair of Alabama gymnasts have earned regular-season All-America honors, the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) announced recently.
Seniors Nickie Guerrero and Kiana Winston both earned the regular-season accolade. Guerrero earned first-team honors on the balance beam and second team on the vault, while Winston earned second-team honors on the uneven bars.
Winston leads the Crimson Tide in the six-year history of the award in both career first-team honors and combined first- and second-team honors. She now has four first-team accolades and six combined first and second-team accolades. Guerrero has three combined honors for her career.
In all, eight Alabama gymnasts have earned 29 regular season All-America honors since the award's inception in 2013.
NACGC/W Regular Season All-America honors are based on the final regional qualifying scores of the season with those ranked in the top eight (including ties) on each event and in the all-around earning first team and those ranked in the next eight (including ties) being named second team.
Postseason All-America honors are determined by individual finishes in the semifinal round of the NCAA Championships. Those who finish in the top four (including ties) of a session earn first-team honors while those finishing in the next four (including ties) earn second team. Winston has earned five championship All-America honors through her first three seasons.
Guerrero, Winston and the rest of the Crimson Tide return to action on Saturday, April 7 at 4 p.m. CT as host of the 2017 NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional Championships in Coleman Coliseum. The top-two teams at the regional will advance to the NCAA Championships Semifinals in St. Louis, Mo., April 20-21.
