TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A total of four Alabama gymnasts earned Southeastern Conference honors while leading the Crimson Tide to its 20th-consecutive top-three finish at the SEC championships with a second-place finish.
Seniors Kiana Winston and Nickie Guerrero, along with junior Ari Guerra earned All-SEC honors, while rookie Lexi Graber earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman team.
Winston and Guerrero earned their spot after scoring twin 9.95s on the balance beam, leading Alabama to a meet-best 49.450 on the event. Guerra won the floor exercise with a 9.9 on the way to earning All-SEC recognition.
It was the third such honor for Winston and the first for Guerrero and Guerra.
Graber was the top-ranked newcomer in the all-around at the SEC Championships, earning her the freshman accolade.
Prior to the championships, Winston was announced as member of the 2018 SEC Gymnastics Community Service Team.
As a team, Alabama's second-place finish means the Tide is the only program to finish in the top-three each of the last 20 years and is also the only school to never finish outside the top-four at SECs in league history.
The Crimson Tide returns to action on Saturday, April 7 at 4 p.m. CT as host of the 2017 NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional Championships in Coleman Coliseum. The top-two teams at the regional will advance to the NCAA Championships Semifinals in St. Louis, Mo., April 20-21.
Tickets are available through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262), located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum, and online at RollTide.com/tickets.
