Four Golfers Shoot Below Par to Lead Alabama in Opening Round of Linger Longer Invitational

Crimson Tide cards team score of 11-under par 277 to finish the day in second overall
GREENSBORO, Ga. – Four Alabama men's golfers finished below par to lead the Crimson Tide to a team total of 11-under par 277 in the opening round of the Linger Longer Invitational on Sunday. Alabama will come into Monday's second round just five strokes behind clubhouse leader Georgia (272).
The Tide had two golfers finish among the top-10 individuals on Sunday, led by senior Lee Hodges' round of 5-under par 67 to end the day in a tie for fourth overall. Hodges, who is ranked No. 23 in the nation by Golfstat.com, carded six birdies through the opening 14 holes on his way to a sub-70 score for the fourth time in seven rounds this spring. The Ardmore, Tenn., native will begin the second round four strokes back of overall leader Davis Thompson of Georgia, who carded a 9-under 63.
Junior Davis Riley, who is ranked sixth nationally, is in a tie for 10th overall after carding a 3-under 69 on the par-72, 7,073-yard Great Waters Golf Club at Reynolds Lake Oconee course. The Hattiesburg, Miss., native collected an eagle, five birdies and four bogeys during his opening round of play.
Two other Crimson Tide golfers are among the top-20 individuals as senior Jonathan Hardee carded a 2-under 70 and freshman Davis Shore shot a 1-under 71 to finish the day tied for 12th and 20th, respectively. Freshman Wilson Furr rounded out the Alabama golfers in a tie for 40th with a 1-over 73.
Individually, sophomore Josh Sedeno carded an even par 72 and is in a tie for 30th overall.
Penn State is in third place after the opening 18 holes with a 278, one shot behind the Tide and six shots back of Georgia. Ohio State (281) and Chattanooga (283) round out the top five teams, respectively.
Alabama is scheduled to begin second round play at 9:10 a.m. CT (10:10 a.m. ET) on Hole No. 1, and will be paired alongside Penn State and Georgia. Live scoring can be found at www.Golfstat.com.
