
Alabama Qualifies Nine Athletes in Nine Events and One Relay for NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

The Crimson Tide will compete in national meet, March 9-10, in College Station, Texas
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama track & field teams will qualified nine individual athletes and one relay for the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, March 9-10 at Texas A&M University's Gilliam Indoor Track & Field Stadium in College Station, Texas.
The Alabama men will send six athletes to the NCAA Championships, including juniors Gilbert Kigen and Vincent Kiprop in the 5,000 meters, senior Ruebin Walters in the 60-meter hurdles, junior Shelby McEwen in the high jump, junior Kord Ferguson in the shot put and senior Daniel Haugh in the weight throw.
Three members of the Crimson Tide women's team qualified for NCAA meet, including freshman Daija Lampkin in the 200 meters, junior Stacey Destin in the high jump and pentathlon and junior Portious Warren in the shot put. Alabama's 4x400 relay of Lampkin, freshman Tamara Clark and sophomores Symone Darius and Takyera Roberson will also compete in the NCAA Championships. Senior Kaitlin Walker and junior Mauricia Prieto will also travel with the squad as relay alternates.
This will be the second trip to the indoor championships for Walters, Haugh, Destin and Roberson and the first for the remainder of the group.
