
Former Alabama Track & Field Star Beth Mallory Lesch Named to 2018 SEC Women’s Legends Class

The 2005 NCAA discus champion will be honored Thursday at the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama track & field national champion Beth Mallory Lesch has been named one of the Southeastern Conference's 2018 Women's Legends and will be recognized at the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament this week in Nashville, Tenn.
Mallory Lesch will be honored at halftime of Alabama's opening SEC tournament game against Kentucky on March 1. The game is scheduled to tip-off at noon and will air on the SEC Network.
One of the most decorated student-athletes in the history of Crimson Tide track & field, Mallory Lesch was the 2005 NCAA discus champion, a four-time All-American in the event and a two-time All-American in the hammer throw. A three-time SEC discus champion, she was also the 2005 SEC champion in the shot put and hammer throw, earning her the coveted Commissioner's Trophy as the high scorer at the conference championship and was voted SEC Field Athlete of the Year.
A two-time team captain for the Crimson Tide and member of the University of Alabama chorus, Mallory Lesch was also a standout in the classroom earning CoSIDA Academic All-American honors and an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. She was also named a 2007 NCAA Top VIII honoree.
