
No. 31 Alabama Women’s Tennis Featured on Latest Oracle/ITA Team and Singles Rankings

The Crimson Tide ranks at No. 31 while junior Andie Daniell lands at No. 118 in the first computerized ITA rankings
TEMPE, Ariz. –The Alabama women's tennis team and junior Andie Daniell were featured on the first computerized Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Team and Singles Rankings of the season on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide landed at No. 31 on the list with a 20.41 average while Daniell was ranked at No. 118 with a 4.93 average, as announced by the association.
After a 2-1 outing two weeks ago in Seattle, Wash., the Crimson Tide owns an 11-1 record, which is the best start in program history since 2009. Alabama opened the season with a nine-match win streak including an upset-victory over UCF, who received national Top-25 votes on Jan. 24, in its first true road test on Jan. 26, 4-3, while silencing seven opponents. The Crimson Tide also received Top-25 votes in the previous ITA National Team Rankings on Feb. 14 and Jan. 31.
Daniell has already started her junior campaign on a roll, finishing fall play, 9-2. During the fall slate, Daniell defeated then-No. 45 Lindsey Hodge from Rice University, 6-4, 6-1, while also reaching the semifinal round of the 2017 ITA Southern Regional Championships.
So far this spring season, Daniell has been scorching hot at the No. 1 singles position with a 9-1 record, while sporting an 11-1 mark in doubles play. In the first road test of the year, Daniell set the tone for the upset over UCF, after downing Ksenia Kuznetsova, 6-4, 6-1, in singles while topping Ksenia Kuznetsova/Maria Martinez, 6-4, with teammate Ann Selim in doubles.
Daniell and the Crimson Tide will return to the court on Feb. 23-24 at the 70th playing of the prestigious Blue Gray National Tennis Classic at the Lagoon Park and O'Connor Tennis Center in Montgomery, Ala.
