
Alabama Women’s Tennis Q&A: Ann Selim

RollTide.com will be posting Q&A's of each member on this year's Alabama women's tennis team so fans can get to know the members of our Crimson Tide family. The second Q&A is with Ann Selim, a sophomore transfer from Oklahoma. Selim has posted a 3-1 mark in singles, while dominating doubles play with teammate Andie Daniell, 4-0.
Q: What is your favorite thing(s) about your hometown?
A: My favorite things about my hometown are the people and Egyptian food.
Q: If you could play tennis with anyone, who would it be?
A: I would love to play tennis with Roger Federer, he is my favorite tennis player and it would be an honor to hit with him.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Tuscaloosa?
A: My favorite restaurant in Tuscaloosa is Mr. Chen's. I often go there to eat with my teammates.
Q: What is your favorite vacation spot?
A: My favorite vacation spot is anywhere close to the beach. I find the oceans and seas very relaxing.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: My dream job is to be an engineering manager.
Q: What is your favorite spot on campus and why?
A: My favorite spot on campus is near Shelby Hall where the engineering buildings are. I just think that the buildings are really pretty and that the area is very relaxing.
Q: What other sports did you play growing up?
A: I tried gymnastics and swimming when I was really young, but I fell in love with tennis and chose to give up the other sports for tennis.
Q: How old were you when you started playing tennis and how did you get into it?
A: I was four years old when I first started playing tennis. I got inspired by my older brother when he played tennis, so I started playing the sport and fell in love with it.
Q: What is your favorite thing about playing for Alabama?
A: My favorite thing about playing for Alabama is the support we get from everyone. I think it helps us as a team to know that we have people that support us and that are here for us.
Q: What is your major and what do you hope to do with it one day?
A: My major is mechanical engineering. I am not too sure what exactly I want to do with it yet, but I know I want to become a professional engineer one day.
Q: Describe yourself in three words…
A: Gritty, Competitive, Hardworking
Q: How many different countries have you traveled to and name a few of your favorites?
A: I have been to four countries and my favorites are Egypt and the U.S.
Q: If you could play another sport in college, what would it be?
A: If I could play another sport in college I would want to be a volleyball player.
Q: If you could live in a book, TV show or movie what would it be?
A: I would want to be Gal Gadot in the movie Wonder Women.
Q: What's your favorite holiday and why?
A: My favorite holiday is Christmas, because I get to go home and see my family and friends. I also love Christmas decorations and baking cookies as tradition for the holiday.
Q: What would you like to say to the fans?
A: Thank you so much for your support, it means so much to us. Roll Tide!!
Q: What superhero would you be or what super power would you have and why?
A: If I could have a super power, I would like to read people's minds and know what they are thinking.
Q: Celebrity crush or favorite actor?
A: My celebrity crush would be Chris Hemsworth.
Q: What is your favorite food or type of cuisine (i.e. Mexican, Italian, etc.)?
A: My favorite type of food is Mediterranean food.
Q: If you could talk to any animal, what would it be and why?
A: If I could talk to any animal, I would want to talk to dogs to know how they feel and what they are thinking.
