TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – In conjunction with the Southeastern Conference, the Alabama gymnastics team released its full 2019 schedule Thursday. The Crimson Tide's slate includes 11 regular-season meets with 10 that will be streamed live and six that will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks.
"Our schedule is amazing," UA head coach Dana Duckworth said. "From start to finish, it is a strong, challenging schedule that will prepare us for the championship season."
Alabama gymnastics will once again signal the start of the weekend this winter, with 10 of its 11 regular-season meets coming on Friday night, including all five home contests.
The Tide opens the season at home with a pair of quad meets, taking on SEMO, NIU and Temple on Jan. 4 and Michigan, Denver, and BGSU on Jan. 11. Both meets will start at 7:30 p.m. CT and will be streamed live on the SEC Network+.
Alabama's SEC home opener against LSU on Jan. 25 will start at 8 p.m. CT and will air on ESPN2. The Tide's home contests against Florida (Feb. 15) and Auburn (March 1) will both be broadcast on the SEC Network and are slated to get underway at 7:30 p.m. CT and 6:30 p.m., respectively.
"There is nothing like an Alabama gymnastics Friday night in Coleman Coliseum," Duckworth said. "And we are so excited for another season of 'Friday Night Heights' on the SEC Network and ESPN."
Season tickets are available through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum and online at RollTide.com.
Alabama opens its SEC schedule at Georgia on Jan. 18. The meet starts at 6:30 p.m. CT and will air on the SEC Network. The Tide's road schedule also includes back-to-back SEC meets at Missouri (Feb. 1/7:30 p.m. CT) on the SEC Network, and at Arkansas (Feb. 8/7 p.m. CT) streamed live on the SEC Network+.
The Tide also faces Kentucky (Feb. 15/6 p.m. CT) in Lexington and Oklahoma (March 15/6:45 p.m. CT) in Norman during the regular season. The meet against the Wildcats will be streamed live on the SEC Network+ and broadcast on ESPN2 on a delayed basis Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. CT.
In between the Kentucky and Oklahoma meets, the Tide will face Auburn in back-to-back weeks, at home on March 1 before traveling to Birmingham for the annual Elevate the Stage meet against the Tigers on March 9 at 7 p.m. CT in Legacy Arena.
"The demands of the new championship format and our early January start inspired a change in our preparation," Duckworth said. "As a staff, we feel we have given the ladies physical, mental and emotional confidence. They understand the importance of a championship mindset during the holidays which translates into having depth on all four events from the start and throughout the season."
The SEC Championships will be held in New Orleans, La. (March 23), while the NCAA Championships will be held in Fort Worth, Texas (April 19-20). This year's NCAA Regional Championships will be held over three days of competition at one of four sites – Baton Rouge, La., Ann Arbor, Mich., Athens, Ga. and Corvallis, Ore. – April 4-6.
The first session of the SEC Championships will get underway at 3 p.m. CT on the SEC Network, while the second session starts at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
