Alabama Readies for CCB Collegiate Invitational

Three members of the Crimson Tide will compete in singles along with doubles
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team is set to co-host the Country Club of Birmingham Collegiate Invitational on Nov. 2-4. The field consists of 13 teams playing in three singles and three doubles draws.
The three-day tournament is slated to get underway on Friday at 9 a.m. CT and will feature two rounds of doubles, followed by a round of singles play that will not start prior to 12:30 p.m. The event continues Saturday with two rounds of singles competition beginning at 9 a.m. The tournament wraps up on Sunday with a final round of doubles at 9 a.m., followed by the last round of singles.
Junior Zhe Zhou opens singles play for the Tide against Belmont's David Faulkner on Friday at 12:30 p.m., in the White draw, while sophomore Sam Fischer takes on Jacob Pugh of Middle Tennessee at 12:30 p.m., in the Houndstooth draw. In other first-round singles action, junior Edson Ortiz receives a bye in the Crimson draw.
Alabama will field two doubles pair with one in the Crimson draw and the other in the Houndstooth draw. Ortiz and Zhou will join forces in doubles play on Friday morning at 9 a.m., against the Kentucky duo of Kevin Huempfner and Fabian Penzkofer, while Fischer will play alongside Samford's Max Rebol and take on Nathan Fruh and Santiago Di Loreto from South Alabama.
In addition to Alabama, the field includes competitors from Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tulane, South Alabama, Middle Tennessee, East Tennessee State, Samford, UAB, Lipscomb, Belmont, and Southern Miss.
