Zhe Zhou Qualifies for Main Draw of $25k USTA Futures

The Crimson Tide junior defeated Michael Shabaz, 6-4, 6-3, on Monday morning
HOUSTON – After winning all three of his matches in the qualifying round, junior Zhe Zhou will play in the main draw of the USTA $25k Futures event in Houston, Texas.
No. 16 seed Zhou bested Michael Shabaz (No. 1001 in ATP Rankings), 6-4, 6-3, in the qualifier final on Monday morning to earn a spot in the main draw of the tournament. Zhou will take on the No. 2 seed in the tournament (No. 442 in ATP Rankings) in Jared Hiltzik at 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Also on Monday, junior Alexey Nesterov fell to No. 1 seed, Andrew Watson, in a three-set battle, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Nesterov will play Watson again in the main draw of the event after earning a Lucky Loser bid into the Round of 32. The two will play not before 1 p.m. CT on Wednesday.
