Alabama Soccer’s Emma Welch Named to SEC Community Service Team

Senior Emma Welch was one of 14 student athletes tabbed to the community
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior midfielder Emma Welch was named to the 2018 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, as announced by the league's office Tuesday. Welch joins 13 other student-athletes who were tabbed onto the prestigious list that highlights an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior effort.
Senior captain Emma Welch is the model example of what a positive influence a student-athlete can have on their community. Since fall of 2015, Welch has participated in 10 community services events, with multiple visits to help at Alberta Apartments. Welch, especially outpours acts of service around the holidays by interacting with local children at the annual Halloween Extravaganza. She also, collects presents for children whose parents are incarcerated during the holiday season with Project Angel Tree.
A leader on and off the field, Welch has immensely impacted the program in her four years at the Capstone, and has emerged as Alabama's most prolific midfielders in school history. Welch broke the program's all-time career assists record, and currently leads the team and program with 23 assists. The midfielder has played in all 18 games and made 16 starts this season, while scoring two goals and making four assists.
