Alabama Finishes Day One of Qualifying Singles at ITA Southern Regional Championships

The final round of qualifying singles, along with three doubles matches will be played on Friday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Sophomore Sam Fischer played two singles matches in the qualifying rounds of the ITA Southern Regional Championships on Thursday at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
Fischer fell in the first round to Giovani Pasini (UAB), 6-3, 6-1, and then to Panji Untung Setiawan (Southern Miss), 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7) in consolation. Fischer will play another consolation match tomorrow against Michael Durham (Auburn) beginning at 9 a.m.
Qualifying finals matches will also be played tomorrow, along with three doubles matches set to start on Friday at 4 p.m. Junior Edson Ortiz and sophomore Riccardo Roberto are one of the three doubles matches that will be played tomorrow when they face Guillermo Agost/Aljaz Kaplja (Jacksonville State).
