Edson Ortiz Advances in Qualifying Round of ITA Men’s All-American Championships

The junior defeated Tristan McCormick (Notre Dame), 6-4, 6-1

TULSA, Okla. – Junior Edson Ortiz advanced in the opening round of the 2018 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Center in Tulsa, Okla., after defeating Tristan McCormick (Notre Dame), 6-4, 6-1, on Monday.

Ortiz will play nationally-ranked Yuval Solomon (Wake Forest), who is No. 74 in the country, in the second round on Tuesday with the time to be announced. The Chihuahua, Mexico native, needs to win his next two matches to move on to the main draw on Oct. 4-8.
