
Alabama Men’s Golf in Tie for Eighth After Opening Round of Carpet Capital Collegiate

Davis Riley and Jonathan Hardee lead the Crimson Tide after opening round of 73
DALTON, Ga. – The No. 19 Alabama men's golf team finished the opening round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate on Friday with a team total of 6-over par 294. The Crimson Tide will enter Saturday's second round of play in a tie for eighth overall.
Alabama was paced by senior Jonathan Hardee and junior Davis Riley, as both carded a first round score of 1-over par 73 on the par 72, 7,012-yard Farm Golf Club. The duo will begin round two in a tie for 22nd place.
Seniors Lee Hodges and Steven Setterstrom are in a tie for 32nd after shooting a 2-over par 74 during Friday's opening 18 holes. True freshman Davis Shore, playing in his first collegiate event, carded a 78 to end the day in a tie for 66th position.
Florida, ranked No. 10 in the nation, holds the clubhouse lead at 7-under par 281, followed closely by fellow SEC rival Tennessee at 6-under par 282. Tournament host No. 18 Georgia Tech is in third (287), while No. 13 Auburn (289) is fourth followed by No. 7 LSU (292) and South Carolina (292) to round out the top five teams after day one.
The tournament is slated for 54 holes in three days (Friday through Sunday) and boasts 10 of the 14 teams who were either ranked or receiving votes to be ranked in the Preseason Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll.
Alabama is set to tee off the second round on Saturday at 8 a.m. ET (7 a.m. CT) off Hole No. 1. Live stats throughout the event can be found on Golfstat.com.
