
Alabama Men Third, Women Fifth in Latest USTFCCCA Regional Cross Country Rankings

Crimson Tide teams return to action Sept. 29 at Notre Dame
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's cross country team remained at No. 3 while the women's team checks in at No. 5 in the latest U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region rankings, released Monday.
Both teams were in action at the UC Riverside Invitational last weekend. Juniors Vincent Kiprop, Gilbert Kigen and Alfred Chelanga finished 1-2-3 in the men's open 8,000-meter race while the women posted a pair of second-place finishes in the Division I 5,000- and 6,000-meter races.
The Crimson Tide cross country squads will be off this weekend before traveling to South Bend, Ind. for the Joe Piane Invitational on Friday, Sept. 29. The women will run a 5K race beginning at 1 p.m. CT, followed by a men's five-mile race at 1:45 p.m.
