Alabama Rowing's 2016-17 Signing Class Grows to Seven

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Between the fall and spring signing periods, Alabama rowing has added seven new members to its ranks who are slated to join the team for the 2017-18 season.
Gabi Gevers (O'Fallon, Mo.)
Gabi Gevers comes to Alabama from O'Fallon, Mo., where she competed with the St. Louis Rowing Club. In this year's Midwest Regionals, she won the Lightweight 8+ and finished third in the event at Youth Nationals. She won gold at the 2016 Midwest Championships in the Lightweight 4+ and placed second in the Lightweight 8+. Her Lightweight 4+ crew also finished fifth at the 2016 Youth Nationals. A multi-sport athlete, she also competed in gymnastics, track and field, soccer, cheerleading and golf.
Isabella Gonzales (Burke, Va.)
Isabella Gonzales coxed for Lake Braddock Crew in Burke, Va., and attended Lake Braddock Secondary. She placed second at the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championships three-consecutive years from 2015-17. In addition to rowing, she ran cross country and was a standout golfer, earning female golfer of the year honors in 2014.
Cori Guay (Seattle, Wash.)
Cori Guay attended Roosevelt High School and rowed with Pocock Rowing Center out of Seattle, Wash. She was invited to the U.S. Junior National Development Team camp in the spring canoe and has translated her national-level competition in the event and kayak to a competitive rowing career. This past season with Pocock Rowing Center, she earned a top-20 finish in the 8+ at Youth Nationals.
Makayla Jones (New Canaan, Conn.)
Makayla Jones rowed with the Saugatuck Rowing Club under coach Gordon Getsinger and attended New Canaan High School in New Canaan, Conn. She has been rowing since she was 13 years old and most recently won silver at the 2017 Northeast Regionals for Saugatuck Rowing Club.
Stephanie Parker (Roswell, Ga.)
Stephanie Parker will be carrying on a family tradition with Alabama, becoming the third Parker sibling to row with the Crimson Tide following her sisters Jessica (2010-13) and Jennifer (2014-17). She hails from Roswell, Ga., attended Centennial High School and rows with the St. Andrews Rowing Club.
Hannah Ubinger (Cary, N.C.)
Hannah Ubinger attended Green Hope High School in Cary, N.C., and rowed with the Triangle Rowing Club, the same group as current Crimson Tide sisters Samantha and Hunter James. This past season, her First Varsity 8+ crew placed second at the North Carolina state championships. For her outstanding performance with the team, she earned its Oarsmanship Award.
Jacqueline White (Whitesboro, N.Y.)
Jacqueline White was a well-rounded athlete at Middlesex School in Concord, Mass., playing varsity soccer and ice hockey before taking up rowing as a sophomore. Her hockey team earned a gold medal at U14 Nationals and she was a team captain. With the rowing team, she quickly earned a spot on their first boat as a junior and served as a captain her senior year.
