TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Tournaments in the Carolinas and Southern California headline the 2017-18 Alabama women's golf schedule, which head coach Mic Potter announced on Tuesday.
"I am excited about the quality of venues, and the level of competition, that we will see this year," head coach Mic Potter said. "I am looking forward to getting started in September, and excited to see what the 2017-2018 team can accomplish."
The Crimson Tide will play in four tournaments during the fall portion of the schedule, with two tournaments in September and a pair in October. Alabama will open the 2017-18 campaign at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn., Sept. 15-17. The Tide will be the defending champion at the Mason Rudolph after a record-setting 39-under par performance at the Vanderbilt Legends Club a season ago. Alabama will then travel to Norman, Okla., Sept. 23-25 to compete in the Schooner Fall Classic for the second season in a row. The Crimson Tide finished second in its first appearance there last season.
October will feature two trips to North Carolina for the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill on Oct. 13-15 and the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington on Oct. 27-29. Alabama finished second and sixth, respectively, in its appearances in the two tournaments last season.
Alabama will return to Southern California to open the spring portion of the schedule for the fourth year in a row at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., Feb. 11-13. The Tide will then travel to Hilton Head Island, S.C., for the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate from March 2-4. The appearance will be the seventh for Alabama at the Darius Rucker, a tournament the Tide has won four times, including in each of the last two seasons.
The regular season will wrap up with the Evans Derby Experience in Auburn, Ala., March 18-20 and the Liz Murphey Intercollegiate in Athens, Ga., April 13-15. Alabama will be making its first appearance at the Evans Derby and will be returning to the Liz Murphey for the 36th time in the history of one of the oldest tournaments in women's collegiate golf.
Postseason play will begin with the Southeastern Conference Championships April 18-22 at Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Ala. NCAA Regionals will take place May 7-9 with the University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, Stanford University and Florida State University serving as the host sites. The 2017 NCAA Women's Golf Championships will cap off the season from May 18-23 at the Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla.
