TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama track and field teams held steady in the rankings this week as the men remain at No. 5 and the women remain at No. 10 in the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Team Rankings, released Monday. The men's team posted 200.09 points while the women's team earned 151.69 points. Regionally, the men are ranked No. 1 in the South region for the fourth week in a row, while the women remain at No. 3 for the third-consecutive week.
The national team rankings are compiled by a mathematical formulae based on national descending order lists and data taken from previous seasons. The purpose and methodology of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots in the national team race. Ranking points do not equate with NCAA Championships team points.
Alabama's next meet will be the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held May 11-13 at the University of South Carolina.
