
Alabama Falls to Host Wildcats in Weather-Shortened Northwestern Quad Match

Crimson Tide drops 3.5-2.5 semifinal match play decision; weather forces cancellation of final round
GLENCOE, Ill. – In its final outing before NCAA regional play, the Alabama women's golf team dropped a 3.5-2.5 match play meeting with the host team at the Northwestern Quad Match at the par-72 6,303-yard Lakeshore Country Club in Glencoe, Ill. on Saturday.
The Crimson Tide's consolation match with Florida State and Northwestern's championship meeting with Duke were cancelled due to inclement weather.
Sophomore Cheyenne Knight and junior Lakareber Abe recorded wins for the Tide while senior Mia Landegren halved her match. Knight defeated Northwestern's Stephanie Lau and Abe downed Sarah Cho by identical 2-and-1 scores. Landegren split her meeting with Kacie Komoto.
Northwestern's Hannah Kim defeated Tide freshman Kristen Gillman, a 2-up. Sophomore Lauren Stephenson was downed by Janet Mao, 3-and-2 while senior Cammie Gray came up short in a 5-and-4 decision to Brooke Riley.
Alabama will now turn its focus to the NCAA Athens Regional, which will take place at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga., May 8-10. The top six team finishers in Athens will advance to the 2017 NCAA Women's Golf Championships, May 19-24 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
