
Alabama Defeats LSU, 3-1-1, in Match Play Quarterfinals of 2017 SEC Men’s Golf Championship

Crimson Tide advances to take on No. 2 seed and 15th-ranked Texas A&M this afternoon
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Alabama men's golf team used a 3-1-1 victory over LSU in the match play quarterfinals of the 2017 Southeastern Conference Men's Golf Championship. With the victory over the No. 3-seed Tigers, the sixth-seeded Crimson Tide advances to the match play semifinals against second-seed Texas A&M on the par-70, 6,898-yard Seaside Course this afternoon.

Quarterfinal Match Play Results (Alabama wins, 3-1-1)
Lee Hodges def. Sam Burns, 1 up in 20
Josh Sedeno def. Eric Ricard, 1 up in 21
Luis Gagne def. Steven Setterstrom, 3up
Brandon Piers vs. Davis Riley, All Square
Jonathan Hardee def. Philip Barbaree, 1 up
This year's new tournament format featured the top eight teams after 54 holes of stroke play advancing to match play. The winner between the Tide and Aggies will advance to Monday's championship match against the winner of the other semifinal pitting No. 1 seed Vanderbilt and No. 4 seed Florida.
