Alabama Women’s Tennis Presented in Weekly ITA Rankings

The Crimson Tide has two singles players and a doubles tandem that are nationally-ranked
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team earned a No. 35 national ranking, announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Tuesday. The Crimson Tide (8-15, 2-11 SEC) also has two singles players and a doubles tandem that are nationally-ranked.
Alabama boasts 54 wins in singles play since beginning the dual match season and 31 victories in doubles.
Senior Erin Routliffe remained nationally-ranked at No. 15 in singles after compiling 13 wins since beginning the spring season with all of her matches coming from the top position, which ranks second on the team. Routliffe has registered seven wins over nationally-ranked singles opponents and four victories over nationally-ranked doubles opponents this year. Last weekend, Routliffe outlasted Arkansas' No. 49-ranked singles player Shannon Hudson in a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 decision.
Sophomore Andie Daniell achieved a No. 103 ranking in singles in this week's set of rankings after not previously being ranked the week before. Daniell has collected 14 wins in singles since the start of the dual match season, which ranks first on the team. She also has four wins over nationally-ranked singles opponents this year. Last weekend, Daniell topped Arkansas' No. 92-ranked singles player Ana Oparenovic in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3.
Routliffe and freshman Maddie Pothoff remain nationally-ranked No. 8 in doubles play after posting an impressive 12-3 record since the start of the spring season with all matches coming from the No. 1 spot.
Last weekend, the Tide lost a 4-3 decision to then-No. 18 Arkansas on Friday night, before dropping a 4-3 result to Missouri on Sunday to conclude the 2017 regular season.
The Tide will be back in action on Wednesday, April 19, when it is set to take on the Tennessee Volunteers at 10 a.m. CT in the first round of the 2017 SEC Tournament on the campus of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.
