Alabama Women’s Golf Leads Bryan National Collegiate by Five Shots after 36-Hole Saturday

Sophomore Lauren Stephenson holds a two-shot lead in individual race
BROWN'S SUMMIT, N.C. – The Alabama women's golf team shot 3-under par over 36 holes on Saturday and has a five-shot lead after two rounds at the Bryan National Collegiate at the par-72, 6,386-yard Bryan Park Champions Course in Brown's Summit, N.C. The first two rounds of the tournament were played on Saturday after heavy rain on Friday forced postponement of the opening round to Saturday morning.
The Crimson Tide (291-282/573) leads second-place Georgia by five the Bulldogs' 2-over par day (291-287/578). Baylor is third at 3-over par (289-290/579), North Carolina is fourth at 5-over par (286-295/581) and South Carolina is fifth at 6-over par (293-289/582).
Sophomore Lauren Stephenson leads the individual race after a 7-under par performance (69-68/137). The sophomore has now shot par or lower in 13 of 20 rounds played this season. Freshman Kristen Gillman (71-71/142) is tied for seventh at 2-under par. Junior Lakareber Abe (75-72/147) and senior Mia Landegren (76-71/147) are among six players tied for 23rd at 3-over par. Sophomore Cheyenne Knight (76-76/152) is tied for 45th at 8-over par.
Alabama will be paired with Georgia and Baylor in Sunday's final round, which will begin with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. CT.
A win on Sunday would give the Crimson Tide three tournament championships and five top-two finishes in seven outings this season.
