Lee Hodges Career Day Leads Alabama Men’s Golf Team at Desert Mountain Intercollegiate

Hodges one of three Crimson Tide golfers among the top-20 individuals entering Sunday's final round
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Junior Lee Hodges is in a tie for second overall to lead the Alabama men's golf team after two rounds of the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate on Saturday. Behind the play of Hodges, the Crimson Tide is in sixth place in the 12-team field after a 36-hole score of 1-under par 575 (285-290).
Hodges began the day by carding a 3-under par 69 during the morning round and followed that with a 4-under 68 to finish the day with a career-best 36-hole score of 7-under par 137. His second round was highlighted with an eagle on the par 5 616-yard 13th hole. It is the second time in his career he's had consecutive sub-70 rounds, with the only other occurrence coming in the fall at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate.
Hodges and Purdue's Fernando Barco (137) will enter Sunday's final round three strokes behind Reed Hrynewich, who is the clubhouse leader at 10-under 134.
Junior Jonathan Hardee is the second Crimson Tide golfer to finish under par, closing the day at 2-under par 142 (71-71) to finish in a tie for 11th after 36 holes. Junior Tyler Hitchner, who collected a pair of even par 72s, gives Alabama three individuals among the top-20 as he finished the day in a tie for 19th overall at 144.
Senior Dru Love is in a tie for 53rd at 10-over par 154 (73-81), while sophomore Steven Setterstrom rounds out the Crimson Tide in 56th with a 155 (74-79) on the par 72, 7,107-yard Outlaw Course.
Tournament host Michigan (562) leads the 12-team field by six strokes over both Northwestern (568) and Kansas (568). Purdue (572) and St. Mary's (Calif.) (572) are tied for fourth, three strokes ahead of the Tide.
The Crimson Tide will tee off Sunday's final round at 9:30 a.m. CT (8:30 a.m. MT). Live scoring will be available for fans on Golfstat.com.
