
Nine Alabama Men's Swimmers Combine for 21 All-America Honors Following 10th-Place NCAA Finish

INDIANAPOLIS - In addition to posting its third-consecutive NCAA top-10 finish, a total of nine members of the 2017 Alabama men's swimming and diving team earned 21 All-America honors over the four days of the 2017 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships held in Indianapolis, last week.
Senior Connor Oslin earned three first-team honors after leading off Alabama's second-place 200 medley relay and taking third and fourth, respectively, in the 100 and 200 backstroke, to bump his career total to 13. Senior Anton McKee earned one first-team honor after taking second-place in the 200 breaststroke and one honorable-mention accolade (100 breaststroke), bringing his career total to 11. Senior Pavel Romanov earned first-team honors as part of the 200 medley relay for the second year in a row.
Junior Luke Kaliszak earned a trio of first-team honors this season, including the 100 backstroke and the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay, moving his three-year total to 10.
Freshman Zane Waddell earned five All-America honors during the week with two first-team nods (200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay) and three honorable-mention recognitions (50 and 100 freestyles and 400 freestyle relay).
Sophomore Laurent Bams earned one first-team (200 freestyle relay) and two honorable-mention honors (100 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay), for a total of six through his first two seasons. Sophomore Robert Howard earned first-team accolades in the 200 freestyle relay and honorable mention in the 400 freestyle relay, to tally three All-America certificates for his career.
Junior Christopher Reid earned one honorable-mention honor (400 freestyle relay), boosting his career total to four, while senior Alex Gray earned honorable-mention honors after swimming on the 400 freestyle relay in prelims, closing his career with five honors.
The top eight finishers in either individual or relay events at the NCAA Championships earn first-team honors while those that finish in the second eight are named to the honorable-mention list.
Since the arrival of head coach Dennis Pursley and his staff prior to the 2013 season, a total of 15 Alabama men have earned 95 All-America honors.
