Four Alabama Gymnasts Earn 2017 All-Southeastern Conference Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Four Alabama gymnasts earned five All-Southeastern Conference honors the SEC office announced Thursday.
Senior Katie Bailey and junior Kiana Winston were named All-SEC after winning individual conference titles at last week's SEC Championships. Bailey won her second-consecutive uneven bars title. Winston, who shared the SEC uneven bars title with Bailey in 2016, won the league's balance beam championship last week in Jacksonville, Fla. Both women scored 9.95s to secure their SEC titles this season.
Freshman Maddie Desch earned both All-SEC and SEC All-Freshman honors in her rookie season. She was second on the vault with a career-best score of 9.95 in Jacksonville. Fellow newcomer Wynter Childers also earned a place on the SEC All-Freshman team after posting 9.9s on both the vault and balance beam.
After posting its 19th-consecutive, top-three finish at the SEC championships last Saturday, the Crimson Tide is now prepping for its trip to West Virginia, where it will be the No. 1 seed at the NCAA Morgantown Regional. The top-two teams from each of the six regional sites advance to the NCAA championships final site in St. Louis, Mo. In mid-April.
