Alabama Women’s Tennis Q&A: Erin Routliffe

RollTide.com will be posting Q&A's of each member on this year's Alabama women's tennis team so fans can get to know the members of our Crimson Tide family. The fifth Q&A is with Erin Routliffe, a highly touted senior from Caledon, Ontario. Routliffe is currently ranked No. 59 in singles after compiling an 8-2 record since beginning the dual match season with all of her matches coming from the No. 1 position. She is also ranked No. 25 in doubles play with partner freshman Maddie Pothoff, and the pair has posted an imposing 8-1 record since the beginning of the spring season with all matches coming from the No. 1 spot.
Q: What was your first visit to campus like?
A: It was amazing! The team took me to the Ole Miss-Alabama football game, and it was the first football game I had ever been too. So that was crazy to me, just the atmosphere and everything.
Q: What surprised you most about Alabama?
A: How beautiful the campus was! I didn't think it would be this pretty.
Q: What is your favorite thing about your hometown?
A: I would say all my friends! All my best friends are still there.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Tuscaloosa?
A: Taco Mama or Southern Ale House!
Q: What is your favorite tennis memory?
A: Either winning the SEC my freshman year, or winning the national championships with Maya!
Q: Who inspired you most in tennis?
A : Probably my old coach Harry!
Q: When did playing tennis in college become a goal for you?
A: In my senior year of high school, I decided to come to college rather than playing pro. Best decision I've ever made!
Q: What song pumps you up to play?
A: Ms. New Booty.
Q: What is your favorite movie made before you were born?
A: I don't really watch old movies!
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: Hitch.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: To own a coffee shop/bakery or to be a professional tennis player.
Q: If you could live in a book, which book would you live in?
A: Honestly no idea.
Q: What is your favorite hobby outside of tennis?
A: Spending time with my friends for sure.
Q: If you could meet any person in the world who would it be?
A: Juan Martin Del Potro.
Q: If you were playing a pro circuit what grand slam would you want to win most?
A: Australian Open.
Q: What do you like to hear from fans when they are cheering for you?
A: Something crazy that I've never heard before. I want someone to come in full body paint one day!
Q: What are some goals you look to achieve this spring season?
A: I just want to be playing my best tennis by the end of the season, and for us all to play together! And be the loudest team in the SEC!
Q: If you weren't playing tennis what sport would you play?
A: Volleyball!
Q: Who would win an arm wrestling competition on the team?
A: Not me. Andie was lying. I would come dead last probably! I would have to say Andie would win. She's jacked!
Q: What is your favorite holiday?
A: Halloween or St. Patrick's Day!
Q: If you could give one message to your fans what would it be?
A: Just that I'm so thankful for them and we truly do have the best fans in the country!! Keep coming out and helping us through these matches! RTR.
