Alabama Women’s Tennis Ranked No. 34 After 6-4 Start

The Crimson Tide travels to Ole Miss to open Southeastern Conference play on Friday, March 3
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team earned a No. 34 national ranking after a 6-4 start to begin the 2017 dual match season, announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Last weekend, the Tide posted a 2-1 mark at the 69th annual Blue Gray National Tennis Classic. In the first round, Alabama registered its first win over a ranked opponent, topping No. 40 Tulsa in a 4-0 decision. The Tide fell short in the second round against No. 5 Texas Tech, 4-0, before going on to shut out Denver in a 4-0 decision in its final contest of the two-day event.
Alabama boasts a 26-16 mark in singles play since beginning the dual match season and it has an impressive 16-7 record in doubles play. Sophomore Andie Daniell remains undefeated in singles play so far this season at 7-0, as she is 1-0 and 6-0 from the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots, respectively. Senior Erin Routliffe and freshman Maddie Pothoff remain undefeated at 6-0 in doubles play since the dual match season began and all six of the victories have came from the No. 1 doubles position.
The Tide will be back in action on Friday, March 3, when it travels to Oxford, Miss., to take on Ole Miss at 2 p.m. CT to officially open the Southeastern Conference portion of this year's schedule.
