TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team had two sets of doubles teams presented in the doubles Division I Women's Collegiate Tennis Rankings, released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Wednesday.
Senior anchor Erin Routliffe and sophomore Andie Daniell jumped 13 spots to earn the No. 30 ranking in doubles play, after previously being ranked No. 43. Earlier this fall, the duo won the ITA Southern Regional Doubles Championships, marking the second consecutive year the pair has done so. With the victory, the Tide's tandem earned an automatic entry into the 2016 ITA National Collegiate Indoor Championships. In the National Indoor Championships, the two defeated California's Maegan Mansse and Denise Starr in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, before ending their run against Jada Hart and Ena Shibahara of UCLA. The couple collected a 6-3 record this fall, and they have yet to compete with each other since the spring season started.
Routliffe also teamed up with freshman Maddie Pothoff to achieve a No. 46 ranking in doubles play. The pair has posted an undefeated record at 4-0 from the No. 1 doubles position since beginning dual play. The duo also had two matches against Washington and Ohio State that did not finish play, but the two held a 5-4 lead in each match before play was called off.
The Tide will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 18, when it travels to Fort Worth, Texas, to take on TCU at 1 p.m. CT.
