Alabama Men’s Tennis Places Two in ITA Division I Men’s Singles Rankings

Cancel and Osama represent Alabama men’s tennis in second set of ITA singles rankings
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team has two student-athletes featured in the singles Division I Men's Collegiate Tennis Rankings, released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Wednesday.
Freshman standout Thibault Cancel earned the No. 82 ranking in singles play in this set of rankings. Cancel also earned his first Southeastern Conference Freshman Player of the Week accolade, which was announced by the league office earlier Wednesday. The Toulouse, France, native has made an immediate impact to the Crimson Tide lineup, as he is tied for first on the team for the best singles record since beginning dual play at 5-1. In singles play, Cancel has compiled an overall 11-3 record this season, including a 5-1 mark form the No 2 singles spot.
Sophomore stud Mazen Osama enters this set of rankings at No. 92 in singles play. Osama, who hails from Cairo, Egypt, has compiled an 11-5 mark in singles play this season, including a 3-2 record since beginning dual play. All five of Osama's matches in dual play came from the No. 1 singles position, where he has a 1-2 mark against nationally-ranked opponents.
The Tide will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 10, when it travels to Stillwater, Okla., to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys at 5 p.m. CT.
