Alabama Gymnastics Ranked Sixth, Faces No. 10 Kentucky in Lexington on Friday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama gymnastics team is ranked sixth after posting the highest team total in the nation for the past week and tying the highest score in the Southeastern Conference this season. Alabama posted a season-best 197.825 to beat No. 3 Florida last Friday.
This Friday, the Crimson Tide travels to Lexington, Ky., to face No. 10 Kentucky. It will be Alabama's fifth top-10 showdown of the 2017 season.
Oklahoma and LSU remain first and second nationally, followed by the Gators in third, Utah in fourth and UCLA in fifth. With Alabama at No. 6, Michigan, Boise State, Georgia and Kentucky round out the top 10. Having already faced Oklahoma, LSU and Florida, the Tide still has Boise State, Georgia and Kentucky on its upcoming schedule.
The SEC makes up half this week's top 10, No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Florida, No. 6 Alabama, No. 9 Georgia and No. 10 Kentucky.
Alabama is ranked in the top 12 on all four events, including fourth on the balance beam, sixth on vault, seventh on the floor exercise and 11th on the uneven bars.
A week after posting a career-best 39.700, the highest score in the SEC this season and the nation last week, Kiana Winston is ranked seventh in the all-around. The junior from Fort Worth, Texas, is also second on the balance beam and fourth on the floor exercise. Winston is joined in the balance beam rankings by junior Nickie Guerrero (7th) and senior Aja Sims (10th). Sims and Guerrero are also ranked on the floor exercise, at 16th and 20th, respectively. Senior Katie Bailey is ranked 18th on the uneven bars.
After traveling to Lexington for a 7 p.m. ET meet against No. 10 Kentucky on Feb. 10, Alabama returns home to Coleman Coliseum to face in-state rival Auburn on Feb. 17.
