Alabama Track & Field Records Six School Top-10 Efforts at Tiger Tuneup

Herrscher and Taylor win men’s and women’s pole vault, Tide sprinters win three events
CLEMSON, S.C. – Will Herrscher and Lakan Taylor swept the men's and women's pole vault titles and the Alabama sprinters won three events for the Crimson Tide track & field teams at the Tiger Tuneup at Clemson University on Friday afternoon.
Taylor got the Crimson Tide started with a win in the women's pole vault. The senior recorded a season-best clearance of 13-11 1/4 (4.25m) for her third victory of the season. The mark is the fourth-best clearance in the SEC to this point in the season and the sixth-best in school history. Herrscher followed that up with a win in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 17-3 (5.26m), the second-best vault in Tide track history. The sophomore now owns or shares the top three indoor pole vault marks at Alabama.
On the track, senior Vanessa Clerveaux recorded a personal-best 8.15 in the prelims of the women's 60-meter hurdles, the fifth-fastest time in school history. She went on to finish fourth in the final at 8.30 but rebounded just 10 minutes later with a win in the 60-meters in a personal-best 7.42. Senior Diamond Gause finished second in 7.45. In the women's 200 meters, freshman Takyera Roberson won in a time of 23.46, the third-fastest time in school history. Roberson now owns the second- and third-fastest indoor 200 meter times at Alabama. Gause finished fourth in a personal-best 23.67, the ninth-fastest time in Alabama history.
Junior Ruebin Walters continued his strong start to the season, winning the men's 60-meter hurdles in a personal- and Alabama season-best 7.74. The time ties for the third-fastest in Alabama history. Junior Angelo Goss finished second in 7.94.
The Alabama men's 4x400-meter relay squad will be in action on Saturday afternoon at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind. That race will be Alabama's final competition before the Southeastern Conference Championships, which will be held Feb. 24-25 at Vanderbilt University.

60 Meter Hurdles – Junior Ruebin Walters won the 60-meter hurdles in a personal- and Alabama season-best 7.74. The time ties for the third-fastest in Alabama history. Junior Angelo Goss finished second in 7.94. Goss ran a 7.87 in the prelims to advance while Walters posted a 7.90 to qualify.
60 Meters – Junior Terry Jernigan finished 14th in the preliminaries with a time of 6.96 and did not advance to the finals.
200 Meters – Running his second 200-meter race of the season, junior Terry Jernigan finished 12th in 22.19
Pole Vault – Sophomore Will Herrscher won the men's pole vault with a clearance of 17-3 (5.26m), the second-best vault in Tide track history. Herrscher now owns or shares the top three indoor pole vault marks at Alabama.

Women's Event Summaries – Tiger Tuneup
60 Meter Hurdles – Senior Vanessa Clerveaux finished fourth in the women's 60-meter hurdles in 8.30. Clerveaux advanced to the finals with a personal-best time of 8.15 in the prelims. The prelim time is the fifth-fastest in school history.
60 Meters – Senior Vanessa Clerveaux won the women's 60-meters in a personal-best equaling 7.42. Senior Diamond Gause was second in 7.45. Clerveaux ran a 7.45 in the prelims to advance while Gause came in at 7.53 to move on.
200 Meters – Freshman Takyera Roberson won the women's 200 meters in a time of 23.46, the third-fastest time in school history. Roberson now owns the second- and third-fastest indoor 200 meter times at Alabama. Senior Diamond Gause finished fourth in a personal-best 23.67, the ninth-fastest time in Alabama history.
Pole Vault – Senior Lakan Taylor won the women's pole vault with a season-best clearance of 13-11 1/4 (4.25m). The win was her third victory of the season. The mark is the fourth-best clearance in the SEC to this point in the season and the sixth-best all-time at Alabama.
