Alabama Women’s Basketball Earns Road Victory at Lipscomb, 73-51

The Crimson Tide dominated inside, outscoring the Lady Bisons, 40-6, in the paint
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Alabama women's basketball team outscored Lipscomb, 40-6 in the paint and outrebounded the Lady Bisons, 50-26, en route to its 73-51 road win on Thursday night in Nashville, Tenn.
"Any win on the road is a great win," said head coach Kristy Curry. "I feel like we showed a lot of toughness by outrebounding them 50-26 and going 17-of-21 at the free throw line. Every time they made a run by hitting a deep and contested three, our kids just stayed the course, I loved our toughness and togetherness.
The Crimson Tide (5-3) bench doubled up the Lady Bisons' (2-8) reserves, 44-22, in the win.
Senior Coco Knight led the way for the Tide, pouring in a season-high 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor, to go along with a career-high four assists in 29 minutes off the bench. Sophomore Ashley Knight and senior Ashley Williams each totaled 14 points apiece, while sophomore Jordan Lewis added 10 points and a career-high nine rebounds.
Alabama had a great performance from the free throw line in the game, converting 17-of-21 attempts (81%), including 13-of-15 (87%) in the second half.
Lipscomb kept the game close in the first quarter with Alabama only holding a four-point advantage following the first 10 minutes of play. The Crimson Tide responded in the second quarter by going on a quick 7-0 run to take the 24-13 lead with 7:07 left in the half.
The Tide continued to put the pressure on the Lady Bisons in the second quarter, by building a 39-19 halftime lead after outscoring LU 22-6 in the second frame. At the half, UA held the 24-0 advantage in the paint.
In the second half, Alabama did not let Lipscomb back in the game, taking a 57-41 edge heading into the fourth quarter. The Tide finished strong, shooting 54 percent (7-of-13) from the field in the final quarter to close out the contest.
The Tide will return to action at home against Grambling State on Sunday Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. CT in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The game will air live on SEC Network+.
