Alabama Men’s Tennis Prepares for CCB Collegiate Invitational

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama men's tennis team will co-host the CCB Collegiate Invitational with the Country Club of Birmingham on Nov. 10-12. The field consists of 12 teams playing in three singles and three doubles draws.
Play will begin at 9 a.m. CT on Friday with the opening round of doubles, followed by two rounds of singles play that will not start prior to 10 a.m. There will be two rounds of doubles beginning at 9 a.m., on Saturday before the teams take a lunch break. Singles play will begin no earlier than 12:30 p.m., on Saturday. The tournament will wrap up with a final round of singles at 9 a.m., on Sunday.
Sophomore Edson Ortiz opens singles play for the Tide against Tulane's Tim Ruetzel at 10 a.m. on Friday in the Crimson draw. Sophomore Zhe Zhou will play Troy's Mustapha Belcora at 11:30 p.m., in the White draw, while freshman Grant Stuckey takes on Giovani Pasini of UAB at 1 p.m., in the Houndstooth draw.
Alabama will field one doubles pair in the Crimson draw. Ortiz and Zhou open doubles play on Friday morning at 9 a.m., against the duo of Juan Lugo and Frazier Rengifo from East Tennessee State, while Stuckey will pair up with Eric Wagner of Tulane to take on Ryan Smith and Luca Wiedenmann of Tennessee at 9:30 a.m., in the Houndstooth draw.
The 12 teams in the tournament include: Alabama, East Tennessee State, Lipscomb, Miami, Portland, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Tennessee, Troy, Tulane and UAB.
