
Alabama Rowing Returns to Chattanooga for Head of the Hooch

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Alabama rowing heads to Chattanooga, Tenn. for the second time in the fall season at this weekend's Head of the Hooch Regatta. Two days of competition on the Tennessee River begins Saturday, Nov. 4 and concludes Sunday, Nov. 5.
The Crimson Tide will have 14 crews competing across a total of five races, four on Saturday and one on Sunday. This weekend's 5,000-meter course goes along the Tennessee River with the finish line in front of the grandstand at Ross's Landing Park.
Alabama opens Saturday with three entries in the Women's Championship 8+ at 12:01 p.m. CT. A pair of Tide boats will compete in the Women's College & Club Novice 8+ at 1:11 p.m. CT with two crews also competing in the Women's 2x (3:13 p.m. CT) and the Women's Championship 4+ (4:02 p.m. CT) to round out Saturday's races. The Tide wraps up its weekend with five entries in the Women's Open 8+ Sunday at 11:49 a.m. CT.
This will be the Tide's second race on the Tennessee River this fall, having previously competed at the season-opening Chattanooga Head Race on Oct. 14. Alabama finished with four event wins there and earned seven top-three finishes. Alabama carried the positive momentum into a stellar showing at the Head of the Charles the following weekend, setting a course record with a gold-medal finish in the Club 4+ and earning a seventh-place finish in the Club 8+.
Following competition this weekend, the Tide wraps up its fall season at home against UCF on Saturday, Nov. 11.
